Meet the Ranch Animals!

  • Pico

With his striking sorrel and white coat and classic cow horse build, Pico is the kind of horse you picture when you think "ranch life." Steady, kind, and as reliable as they come, Pico is our go-to guy for pony rides and relaxed trail strolls. Whether you're just getting back in the saddle or building confidence for the first time, Pico is the horse you want under you. He’s patient, sweet-natured, and always happy to take things slow—making him a favorite for riders of all ages.

  • Maui

Born and raised right here on Long Hollow Ranch, Maui is as homegrown as it gets. This big-boned gelding is our go-to “husband horse”—steady, unbothered, and built like a recliner with hooves. Riding Maui feels like cruising on a couch, and nothing out on the trail seems to phase him. He’s trustworthy, gentle, and takes care of his rider every single time. Whether you're brand new to horses or just looking for the most relaxed ride of your life, Maui's your guy.

  • Buttercup

Buttercup is our Belgian beauty, born in 2021 and already stealing hearts with every thundering hoofbeat. Don’t let her size fool you—this big girl thinks she’s a lapdog. She’s the first to trot up and say hello, always looking for attention, scratches, or snacks (preferably all three).

Currently being started under saddle, Buttercup is also learning the ropes of pulling a carriage—so keep an eye out for some fun, old-fashioned experiences coming to Long Hollow Ranch soon. She’s curious, gentle, and full of personality. Buttercup may not realize how massive she is, but she knows exactly how to melt your heart.

  • Ranger

With his striking black and white coat and sharp cow sense, Ranger turns heads the moment you see him out in the pasture. This paint gelding isn’t just good looking—he’s got the skills to match. Ranger has some get-up-and-go and loves a job, especially when it involves moving cows or covering ground across the ranch.

Most days, he’s the wrangler’s right-hand horse, but for experienced riders who want a more responsive, push-button ride, Ranger’s your guy. He’s athletic, tuned in, and ready to work—making every ride a little more exciting and a whole lot memorable.

  • Buster

Buster is a 20-year-old smooth-as-a-cat gelding with a heart of gold and serious cowboy credentials. He was once a competitive cutting horse and later spent years teaching kids to ride at Canyonview Camp. He now lives his best ranch life at Long Hollow as Jenna’s personal horse, though guests are lucky enough to ride him on trail rides and lessons. He loves chest scratches, nose kisses, and working cows just for fun. Quick, kind, and full of personality! Buster is a true gentleman of the ranch.

  • Zephyr

Zephyr is a 20-year-old bay Arabian gelding with a big engine and an even bigger heart. He loves to go, go, go and is happiest exploring the ranch with a rider by his side. With his long flowing mane, dished Arabian face, and expressive eyes, he probably should have been named Fabio. He’s a total showstopper and one of the best horses on the ranch to hug, soft, kind, and full of spirit.

  • Oreo, Gertie & Daisey Mae

These three Nigerian Dwarf goats are the pint-sized personalities of Long Hollow Ranch. Oreo, Gertie, and Daisey Mae may be small, but they make up for it with big mischief. Whether they’re sneaking snacks, squeezing through gates, or hamming it up for visitors, they’re always up to something.

You’ll often catch them exploring the ranch in the afternoons, popping up near the barns, peeking into tack rooms, or just looking for someone to say hello (and maybe offer a scratch or two). Friendly, feisty, and full of attitude, these gals are always ready to add a little goat-powered charm to your day.

  • Captain

Captain is our friendly, four-legged ranch guardian—and he takes his job of welcoming guests very seriously (especially if belly rubs are involved). This loyal German Shepherd lives on the property and can often be found trotting alongside the horses, supervising chores, or snoozing in a sunny spot near the barn.

Captain is as gentle as he is protective, and he’s always happy to make a new friend—especially if you come bearing treats or kind words. Just one look into those soulful eyes and you’ll know: Captain is more than a ranch dog—he’s part of the Long Hollow family.

  • Amarillo

With her striking eyes and fluffy coat, Amarillo is our German Shepherd-Husky mix and the self-appointed official greeting committee of Long Hollow Ranch. She’s friendly, curious, and always the first to trot up with a wagging tail to say hello.

If you're staying at the Ranch House, don’t be surprised if Amarillo pops by to hang out on the porch—she loves making new friends and keeping guests company. Whether she’s lounging in the sun or making her morning rounds, Amarillo adds a little extra heart to the ranch experience. She might not fit in your suitcase, but she’ll definitely steal a piece of your heart.

  • Roper

The newest (and fluffiest) addition to the Long Hollow Ranch family, Roper is a purebred Australian Shepherd who made the long journey from Montana to call Oregon home. You’ll likely spot him trailing closely behind his mom, Jenna, as she makes her rounds across the ranch—his favorite place to be is wherever she is.

Though he’s just a pup, Roper is already showing signs of becoming a great ranch dog, learning the ropes of herding and greeting guests with his signature wiggle. He carries on the legacy of Luke, Jenna’s beloved Aussie who was by her side for 17 wonderful years.

Roper was an unexpected little blessing—but from the moment he arrived, it was clear he was meant to be here. Keep an eye out for this sweet boy—you’ll know it’s him by his bright eyes, wagging tail, and endless enthusiasm.
